A previous contractor had installed conventional valves below the ground across the whole of the Bath University site whilst installing a new heat network. Unsuitable to be below the ground, these conventional valves would lead to early failure of the system with an immediate loss of heat to the university buildings.
The University not only needed an immediate replacement programme but required that work be done to a tight timeframe – during the summer closure of the University. PPSL District Heating worked quickly alongside CPC Civils to source the correct valves which were pre-insulated isolation valves. The whole project was planned to be completed within a tight six-week timeframe – giving the PPSL team just two weeks on site to replace all the incorrect valves.
PPSL worked as part of our team to design and undertake the replacement works for the conventional valves that had started to corrode around the site. They were extremely flexible and adapted to our programme as and when each of the five areas had been excavated. Excellent customer service as always and quality.
