Steam Pipes

PPSL are trained and accredited to install the Logstor HT2 and HT3 pre insulated pipes and joints which can be utilised for steam or high temperature networks.

  • Suitable for a temperature range of 140 °C to 250 °C
  • For both over ground and buried installations
  • 100 % waterproof
  • Easy to clean

A pre insulated pipe normally consists of three parts:

Carrier pipe

In the centre is a carrier pipe – typically a steel pipe, like a boiler pipe

  • 37.0.
  • Welded pipe.
  • DIN 1626.
  • 35.8.I.
  • Seamless pipe
  • DIN 1629.

The carrier pipe is covered by insulation, which for high-temperature systems consists of two layers:

  • An outer layer of polyurethane foam (PUR)
    • 140 °C.
    • Density 60-80 kg/m3. λsub>50: 0.0275 W/mK
  • and an inner layer of mineral wool, which protects the PUR insulation from temperatures above 140 °C
    • 400 °C.
    • Density ~120 kg/m3.
    • λsub>100: 0.050 W/mK

The exterior surface consists of a protective polyethylene (PE) casing, which prevents moisture entering the insulation.

  • PEH

Overground high temperature system, HT2:

The over ground system functions as a fixed system. This means that the outer casing follows the carrier pipe’s expansion. Pipe supports can be mounted directly on the casing. Expansion is generally absorbed in bends and expansion joints.

We have two standard insulation series:

  • Series 210 for operating temperatures from 140 °C to 210 °C.
  • Series 250 for operating temperatures from 140 °C to 250 °C.

Buried high temperature system, HT3:

The buried system functions as a sliding system, i.e. the carrier pipe expands inside the insulation without causing movement in the outer casing in the soil. Expansion is absorbed in the system by compensators or expansion bends.

We have two standard insulation series:

  • Series 210 for operating temperatures from 140 °C to 210 °C.
  • Series 250 for operating temperatures from 140 °C to 250 °C.

Our two HT systems together cover the high temperature range from 140 °C to 250 °C:

  • 140-250 °C over ground system (HT2 above)
  • 140-250 °C buried system (HT3 above)

From pipe to system

A smoothly operating pipe system is dependent on its joints. Industrial pipes from LOGSTOR can be combined in several ways, depending on the required pipe routing. The simplest and cheapest solution is to choose straight pipes and join them using joints. But they can also be connected using standard fittings and joints. If required, we can supply a specially designed system with special fittings as a complete solution. Whatever the requirements, the systems can be installed quickly and effectively, once and for all, using our extensive range of standard fittings comprising straight joints, bends, T-joints, end-caps and other fittings – it is almost as easy as building a LEGO set. And the result is the ideal pipe system.

Economic advantages

The many technical advantages ensure optimal running costs for the pipe system throughout its entire lifetime. As a result, it pays for itself in less than two years. Primarily due to:

  • Reduced installation costs
  • Fast, problem-free installation without long disruptions
  • Minimal maintenance costs
  • Long service life

Complete solutions protect your investment

More than ‘just’ a supplier of pipes; LOGSTOR is an efficient partner. Our skilled engineers and technicians help with the planning and correct execution of the projects to ensure an optimal solution. Our special calculation program, which can be downloaded from helps you make decisions based on important parameters such as pipe size, heat loss and statics. This makes it much easier for you to choose the right system.
