PPSL District Heating’s Dawn Holden has danced herself to victory in the Willowbrook Hospice Glitter Ball and helped raise almost £60,000 for the hospice.
SHEQ Manager Dawn Holden is celebrating after she and her dance partner Mark Ashton were voted the ball winners after performing a faultless foxtrot to Shirley Basset’s Hey Big Spender.
Twelve couples took part in this annual event, held to raise vital funds for Willowbrook Hospice – which needs a staggering £4.5m to support the St Helens community.
The big event took place on October 25 at Saints Stadium. Dawn’s goal was to raise a minimum of £1,000 – every penny making a difference to the incredible work Willowbrook Hospice does in providing care, dignity and support to individuals and families during life’s most challenging moments.
Event organisers have however today revealed that collectively the event has already raised a record-breaking £56,700 – the highest figure achieved in the event’s history.
Dawn said: “I am absolutely over the moon that Mark and I won! What a dancing duo!
“The whole experience was out of this world, but the real victory is the incredible amount we raised. To think that, collectively, we brought in almost £60,000 for Willowbrook Hospice is just humbling.
“I want to thank everyone at PPSL and in the community who donated. Every step we took was worth it knowing we were supporting the vital care Willowbrook provides.”
PPSL’s Managing Director Ben Leach added: “We could not be prouder of our Dancing Dawn.
“She has committed wholeheartedly to this project and it is no surprise to us that she only went and won it.
“We are thrilled for Dawn and I’m sure Willowbrook Hospice is over the moon with the amount raised. Well Done! What an amazing achievement.”
